About

ranarex was born in Mexico city in 1976. He started classical music training at the age of 4 with Yuriko Kuronuma, internationally known violin soloist. At the age of 9 he participated in the competition that would allow him to join a group of musicians within Kuronuma’s school to visit several cities of Japan on a tour when he qualified among the 12 winners. He continued his violin studies giving numerous concerts with the Academy Chamber Orchestra in Mexico City in important concert halls of the capital as well as throughout the country.
ranarex obtained third place in the Second National Violin Contest , organized by the National School of music in 1988. After graduating from high school he decided to give art one more chance in a new field focusing now on architecture, a passion that had been growing inside of him since his first contact with art when he was four. By the time he was 15 he started writing songs and playing guitar without any formal training except his violin and harmony lessons. He also diversified his abilities by picking up viola lessons now for the next three years as well as drums and electric bass. When he was 17 his interest in jazz, rock and experimental music continued to grow as his life took him to a stage of debt to himself and to his music. To the point where his perspectives in his country resulted short for him forcing him to leave everything behind and pursue his dreams in New York City, where he has worked as an architect to make a living for the past six years helping himself with violin and guitar lessons while working in several music projects which include Barra Libre, a project that potentially expanded and increased in followers rapidly in New York and Mexico. His individual projects have taken him to a new electronic and creative sense using now computers and samplers to fulfil his composer needs as his exploration fields change every day. Nowadays he explores Swedish grounds moving his base to Stockholm to once again break his own boundaries using a loop station, acoustic guitar, electric violin, and a laptop computer to loath to be Latin American folk using technology against the impending influence of different cultures. They are the sounds of a men and pieces of wood which slide into wires to create layers that later become the music surrounding him.
